Ca: Vanishing Santorini är en utställning av historiska traditionella byn livet på Santorini inrymt i en traditionell byggnad komplex av en gammal kanava byggd 1895 which was restored and is maintained by life-long Santorini resident Giannis John Drosos-Chrysos. The exhibition aims to create a place which provides visitors with the opportunity to enjoy a museum-like collection of artifacts and photographs which reflect the bygone traditional way of life of the island as well as the economic activities of the inhabitants of the time.
Vad du kan se: A guided tour of different buildings with life size mannequin models illustrates various traditional trades from Santorini. The process of wine production from grape cultivation grape harvest and methods of wine making to the storage of wine in large old oak barrels is shown. Displays also represent the process of distillation and production of tsikoudia raki known for its strong taste. Tomato and fava processing two traditional Santorini agricultural products are exhibited. A mansion and farmhouse with authentic furniture depict domestic life and customs of the traditional family. Models of the rural lifestyle are presented such as the countrywoman hauling firewood on her back and pulling her goat a peasant girl knitting wool with her wooden roka bobbin and the transportation of agricultural products with the use of a donkey. Also shown are the traditional professionals of the past such as pocharis the bird-catcher with his landing-net traditional musicians the barrel-maker and the tinker. Historical photographs are displayed showing the social classes cultural centers schools festivals mansions landscapes social and economic activities of people that lived on the island 100 years ago.
