Volcan Wines is a modern family run winery that has been in operation for four generations. From the local vineyards many local red and white varieties are produced as well as the sweet wine Vinsanto.
History:
The Koutsogiannopoulos family established their winery after arriving on Santorini during a trip from Sparta to Syros in 1880. Within two decades they had established a strong presence on Santorini and they built their own ship to export their wines to Russia.
What to See:
The history of Koutsogiannopoulos Winery starting from 1660 to present is represented in their underground winery. Visitors can take a guided tour of the canava- museum to learn about this winery and methods of making wine. A multimedia show in 9 languages presents the history of the winery from the 17th century to present.
